My name is David Wood, I am 33 years old and I am Autistic, however I also suffer from Sensory Processing Disorder, PTSD, OCD, anxiety and Depression. I am very passionate about spreading the awareness and creating the awareness of Mental health and Mental health conditions that are mentioned above.
In 2015, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and in 2017 I was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder.
So what is Autism Spectrum disorder and what is Sensory Processing Disorder ??
Autism is a defined as a Mental Health Condition under the Mental Health Act of 1983, It is a developmental learning disability. From research it is more common in Boys than it is in Girls, however it has started to become as common to give a diagnosis to young girls.
Autism is a developmental disability that affects the ways of communication, social interactions. People with Autism are often the very last to understand jokes or sarcasm and are often or are more than like to upset by this. Autistic people don't understand sarcasm or jokes or may have a delay in understanding this.
Autistic people aren't those that are Neurotypical thinkers their brains are different and they can often see things that other people that are neurotypical thinkers see, such as very fine details in drawings, this therefore makes each person who is autistic unique in their very own rights.
